A place with soul right in the heart of Vadstena

There are places you just drive past, and then there are places you stop at. Starby is the latter kind. Here, a short walk from Vadstena's medieval monastery and castle, you are greeted by a main building from 1914, a lush park and a feeling that time is slowing down a few steps. It is not something we have designed. It's the place itself that does that.

Vilka är vi då?
Stefan Carneteg har en mycket intressant historia inom hotell och restaurangbranschen. Han började som en småländsk diskpojke på Hooks Herrgård, senare blev han kock och den resan tog honom till Vadstena där han jobbade som köksmästare på Starby Hotell 1987. Hans erfarenheter tog honom sedan vidare till hotell och 2017 sålde han sina hotell i Linköping till Petter Stordalen (Nordic Choice Hotels) för att leta efter ett kärt projekt närmare Vadstena.

Hilda Carneteg dotter till Stefan, är född och uppvuxen inom restaurangbranschen och även i Vadstena.
Hennes småländska rötter tog henne till Jönköping där hon mötte kärleken Taisto som hon sedan tog med sig hem till Vadstena. Nu har de två små pojkar, Levi & Jack som även de ska inskolas i den ädla konsten med hotellverksamhet.

Det är främst kärleken till Vadstena som tog oss hit. Men hur kan man inte bli kär i en stad som denna?

Guests usually call the breakfast the best in Vadstena and we do our best to live up to that every morning. The menu changes every six weeks. Not just to change, but because what grows nearby sets the agenda. The chefs grow, hunt and cook and it shows on the plate, in a way that is hard to put into words but easy to feel. We cook the food we want to eat.

1.100 sqm clean enjoyment

We call our spa just that: 1,100 square meters of pure indulgence. A large pool with champagne bubbles, massage pool, aroma sauna, steam bath, Finnish sauna, foot bath and rest room. Outdoors, two hot springs, an outdoor shower and a cold bath await those who like contrasts. We have divided the spa into two worlds - Sociability, where conversation, laughter and a glass of bubbly belong, and Silence, where silence can take its place. Because we know that relaxation means different things to different people.
